Seren is a registered and Board-Certified Art Therapist, Clinical Counselor, and a Ceramics Artist. She is a supervisor at Tierra Nueva Counseling Center and has been part of the 91�ε� Art Therapy faculty since 2011.  Seren is an off-site art therapy supervisor for students in their internships, offering her clinical and professional knowledge, while using a strength-based transformative approach. She encourages her students to take risks, deepen their sense of self-compassion, practice seeking support when appropriate, while acknowledging the importance of authenticity, humor, and self-care.

Seren received her Masters of Divinity from Emory University in 2004 with a focus in art-making as a means to deepen spiritual connection through creativity. It was a rich time as she explored the depth and meaning of spiritual experiences, while integrating diverse religious perspectives. In Atlanta, she facilitated The Artist’s Way groups based on Julia Cameron’s book. She also co-directed the Art with Heart children’s camp at North Decatur UM Church for three years. She performed at the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts and volunteered as a docent in their museum. Seren went on to earn her Masters of Art Therapy and Counseling at 91�ε� in 2006.

Her first nine years in the counseling field included home-based Family Systems Therapy, crisis intervention, case management, as well as individual counseling, art therapy, play, and Sand Play Therapy. Seren joined the Art Team at Creativity for Peace Camp (CFP) for four years, serving as the Assistant Art Director for two of those years. While living in Boise, Seren began her private practice focusing on her collective background of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus, Person-Centered, Depth Psychology, Art Therapy, and Sand Play, to name a few. 

Seren keeps her love of puppetry arts alive by offering playful puppet making workshops that focus on identifying and embracing one’s “inner critic.” Through puppetry, she teaches healthy dialogue techniques that empower and heal. She is the owner-operator of Serendipideez Ceramics, where she has taught ceramic arts and the fundamentals of hand-building and wheel throwing for over ten years . She looks forward to her new role as the Director of Field Training- Art Therapy for Clinical Professionals Program (ATCP) and is excited to be part of an expanding and flourishing program.
