At Southwestern we believe that therapists should be grounded by their own connection to their spirituality. And we hold a wide view of what those spiritual practices and beliefs might be. Walking in nature, meditating, singing, being part of a faith community, so many varieties are represented in our diverse community.
I셫 Christian, one of those 쐋iberal ones. I셫 aware this Holy Week, of the juxtaposition of the traditional Holy Week observances and the trial that셲 begun in Minneapolis. I can셳 imagine being the lone family member allowed to be present in the courtroom. I can셳 imagine taking the path in the dark morning to visit the tomb.
I feel heartbroken this week, at just what being human means sometimes. It so often means death, in some unimaginable way. I am aware of that each year during this week, but more intensely this year, before I can turn toward springtime joy. I commit again, to be active in whatever way I can, so that Black Lives Matter and perhaps finally, are held in the highest regard and value by all humans.
